UFC Fight Night 68

UFC Fight Night 68 will go down in New Orleans, Louisiana this weekend with a great card of fights. The UFC is carrying on its incredible run of weekly events as it prepares to put on its 5th event is as many weeks and this time around its travelling back to home soil after UFC Fight Night 67 which went down last weekend in Brazil. The headliner for this event changed from its original plan as Daniel Cormier was supposed to take on Ryan Bader but due to some unforeseen circumstances Cormier instead fought Anthony Johnson for the vacant light heavy weight belt at UFC 187. Instead we will see Dan Henderson Vs Tim Boetsch go at it in an exciting fight that has all the makings to end in a huge KO on either side.

Dan Henderson has had a poor run of form having gone 1-5 in his last 6 fights but that does include his fight of the century against Mauricio “shogun” Rua. His last 2 losses have come at the hands of current light heavy weight champion Daniel Cormier and top middle weight contender Gegard Mousasi. The drop to middle weight in his last fight could be a wise move for Henderson as he will be bigger and stronger in relation to his opponents. After getting humbled by Daniel Cormier at light heavy weight it looks to be a gooe decision. His opponent Tim Boetsch has gone 2-4 over his last 6 outings making this match up another stroke of genius from UFC matchmakers. Boetsch lost his last fight against BJJ ace Thales Leites but won his fight before that against Brad Tavares so he nay have a bit more momentum going into the fight. However in terms of level of competition Boetsch has a tough fight on his hands. Both guys are strong, gritty fighters who pack a lot of power and it makes for a great match up.

Also fighting at UFC Fight night 68 Big Ben Rothwell vs Matt Mitrione in a heavy weight fight between 2 giants of the division. Both have had a good run of late with Rothwell winning his last 2 including an amazing performance against Alistair Overeem. Mitrione has won his last 3 his last against Gabriel Gonzaga at the end of 2013. As its been so long since Mitrione has been in the octagon it will be interesting so see whether there is any ring rust present.
